The INSPECT Framework: Building Classroom Culture

This four-module mini-course provides teachers with a systematic approach to creating inclusive classroom environments for neurodivergent and trauma-impacted students. Based on Dr. David A Palmer's INSPECT framework, the program breaks down seven core principles: I First, Nurturing Environment, Structure, Planning, Engagement, Consistency, and Time. Educators will learn to view student behavior through the lens of the nervous system and Polyvagal Theory, moving away from traditional discipline toward co-regulation and support. The curriculum offers practical strategies to reduce sensory overload and increase student participation by adjusting physical spaces, daily routines, and instructional planning.
